PERFECTION IS ACHIEVED NOT WHEN THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO ADD, BUT WHEN THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO TAKE AWAY.

2016 Conference

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the first Africa TESOL Conference which will be held at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Khartoum, Sudan on February 26-27, 2016 under the theme of ELT in Africa: Striving for Excellence and Visibility. As it is evident from the theme, our aim is to promote excellence as well as giving more attention to ELT practices in Africa. As it stands, there is lack of research studies as well as other scholarly and practical debates relating to pressing issues and needs of the TESOL community in the African continent. Our hope for this conference, therefore, is to serve as a stepping stone for providing an intellectual and grassroots platform for scholars and practitioners to share and discuss ideas in order to steer the African ELT wheel into the right direction. We are honored in Sudan to be the host and Secretariat of this historical conference as well as the organization as a whole. We are also thankful for the help and support of all the members of Africa TESOL, namely Burkina Faso, Cameroun, Ethiopia, Mali, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Angola, Senegal, and Togo. We take this opportunity to extend the invitation to other African countries to join our cause. We also hope to see and welcome delegates from these African as well as non-African countries. We look forward to seeing you all in Khartoum! Dr. Ishraga Bashir Conference Chair Dr. Aymen Elsheikh Conference Co-Chair
